Basketball Recap: Austin Royals HomeSchool Takes a Loss

Austin Royals HomeSchool was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They lost 66-43 to the Aggieland HomeSchool Panthers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Royals of the 61-31 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2023.

Aggieland HomeSchool got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ethan Cox out in front who went 11 of 16 to rack up 26 points along with eight assists and eight rebounds. With that strong performance, Cox is now averaging an impressive 15 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Justice Bledsoe, who went 8 for 14 on his way to 22 points and seven boards.

Austin Royals HomeSchool's defeat dropped their record down to 22-19. As for Aggieland HomeSchool, their victory bumped their record up to 19-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Austin Royals HomeSchool will square off against Grace Academy at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Grace Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matches -- so hopefully Austin Royals HomeSchool likes a good challenge. Aggieland HomeSchool will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Houston HomeSchool on February 27th. Aggieland HomeSchool is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.1 points per game this season.
