Soccer Game Preview: South Anchorage vs. West Anchorage

The South Anchorage Wolverines will challenge the West Anchorage Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. South Anchorage is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.2 goals per game this season.

South Anchorage is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alaska's top teams: Bartlett, who was ranked 20th at the time (South Anchorage was ranked seventh). The Wolverines never let the Golden Bears get on the board and left with a 7-0 win on Tuesday. Nobel Hoffman was a massive factor in the win as he booted in three goals all by himself.

Meanwhile, West Anchorage unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Tuesday. Neither they nor Service could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 0-0 draw. The result kept West Anchorage happy, as they haven't lost a game since April 29th.

South Anchorage pushed their record up to 8-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those four matchups. West Anchorage's draw makes their record 12-2-2 this season.

South Anchorage beat West Anchorage by a goal when the teams last played back in April, winning 2-1. Will the Wolverines repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
