Basketball Game Preview: Omaha Central Eagles vs. Lincoln High Links

Omaha Central is a perfect 9-0 against Lincoln High since December of 2014 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Omaha Central Eagles will challenge the Lincoln High Links at 7:00 p.m. Omaha Central has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Omaha Central is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Bellevue East: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Omaha Central blew Bellevue East out of the water with a 75-40 final score. Lenox Haynes was his usual excellent self, going 7-for-13 to rack up 17 points and five boards. What's more, he also posted a 54% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's achieved since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Braylon Owens, who went 5-for-11 on his way to 11 points and seven rebounds.

Omaha Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Lincoln High was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a blow against Lincoln Southeast, falling 80-51. While losing is never fun, the Links can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 98th, while the Knights are ranked 34th).

Lincoln High's loss dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Omaha Central, their victory bumped their record up to 9-12.

Everything came up roses for Omaha Central against Lincoln High when the teams last played back in December of 2023, as the team secured a 71-36 win. In that match, Omaha Central amassed a halftime lead of 42-20, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Saturday.
