Soccer Game Preview: Chapin vs. Canutillo

Chapin and Canutillo are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2019, but likely not for long. The Chapin Huskies will be playing at home against the Canutillo Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Saturday, Chapin was able to grind out a solid win over Jefferson, taking the game 3-1. Given the Huskies' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 193rd, while the Silver Foxes are ranked 466th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Canutillo, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Burges 2-1.

Margui Nieves and Jasbeth Limas scored both of Canutillo's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 22 goals.

Chapin's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-3. As for Canutillo, their victory bumped their record up to 7-5.

Chapin beat Canutillo 2-0 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Does Chapin have another victory up their sleeve, or will Canutillo turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
