Basketball Game Preview: Cannon County Lions vs. Warren County Pioneers & Lady Pioneers

The Cannon County Lions will venture away from home to face off against the Warren County Pioneers & Lady Pioneers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Cannon County came into their game on Saturday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They were beaten by Franklin County 55-26. The contest marked the Lions' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, Warren County lost 60-34 to Lincoln County on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Pioneers & Lady Pioneers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 190th, while the Falcons are ranked 28th).

Warren County has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season. As for Cannon County, their loss dropped their record down to 16-5.

Cannon County was able to grind out a solid victory over Warren County in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, winning 46-37. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cannon County since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
