Basketball Recap: Bruton Takes a Loss

Bruton was the 41-39 winner over Poquoson when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Bruton Panthers received a blow on Thursday as they fell 54-38 to the Poquoson Islanders. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Bruton lost, don't look at Zymeia Taliaferro. Despite the final result, she posted 17 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Taliaferro has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Prinz, who put up five points and five boards.

Bruton's defeat dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Poquoson, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Coincidentally, Bruton and Poquoson will both be playing Lafayette the next time they take the court. Poquoson will host Lafayette at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, while Bruton will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
