Basketball Recap: Newport Comes Up Short

Newport lost against Kettle Falls back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Newport Grizzlies received a blow as they fell 57-43 to the Kettle Falls Bulldogs. The Grizzlies have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Kettle Falls had a senior duo take command as Ella Johnson posted 27 points along with six boards and six steals and Annaka Edwards went 5 for 9 en route to 14 points in addition to eight rebounds and five assists. Johnson has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 23 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Wyn Edwards, who put up three points in addition to ten boards and five assists.

Newport's record is now 4-14. As for Kettle Falls, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.

Newport has already played their next matchup, a 57-18 loss against St. George's on the 4th. As for Kettle Falls, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 58-39 defeat against Northwest Christian School on the 4th.
