The Iota Bulldogs will face off against the Welsh Greyhounds at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Iota is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.
Iota is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Ville Platte a 20-0 shutout on Thursday. The result was nothing new for Iota, who have now won 11 games by eight runs or more so far this season.
Haydyn Schexnayder made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Iota let Chloe Bordelon and Addison Cormier run wild. Bordelon got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs, while Cormier scored four runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave Cormier a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Darbonne, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Iota was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .515. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Welsh beat Lafayette Christian Academy 6-3 on Thursday.
Alexis Hayes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits.
On the hitting side, Lauren Hayes was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.
Iota pushed their record up to 20-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Welsh, their win bumped their record up to 6-8.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Iota has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .440. However, it's not like Welsh struggles in that department as they've averaged .432. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Iota's way against Welsh in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as Iota made off with a 10-3 victory. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Greyhounds have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
