Softball Game Preview: Glendale Prep Academy Griffins vs. Leading Edge Academy - GEC Spartans

The Glendale Prep Academy Griffins will square off against the Leading Edge Academy - GEC Spartans at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Glendale Prep Academy made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Scottsdale Christian Academy, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Everything went Glendale Prep Academy's way against Scottsdale Christian Academy on Friday as Glendale Prep Academy made off with a 21-14 win.

Raegan Rockey made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and ten unearned) runs off ten hits. Rockey was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Ally Moore was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI. Another player making a difference was Natalie Whipple, who scored five runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all six of her plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Leading Edge Academy - GEC took care of business in their home opener (barely) on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past St. Augustine Catholic 21-20.

Leading Edge Academy - GEC let Shareen Liszak and Katelyn Clark run wild. Liszak scored two runs while going 2-for-4, while Clark scored three runs while going 3-for-5. The team also got some help courtesy of Arianna Collins, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

Leading Edge Academy - GEC always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .614. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Augustine Catholic only posted an OBP of .367.

Glendale Prep Academy took their win against Leading Edge Academy - GEC in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 23-6.
