Basketball Recap: Johnsonville Comes Up Short

Johnsonville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 58-55 heartbreaker at the hands of the Hemingway Tigers. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Flashes this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 63-58 two weeks ago.

Despite the loss, Johnsonville still got an impressive performance from Takhari Ross, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Ross a new career-high in assists (eight). Another player making a difference was Jackson Eaddy, who posted ten points.

Even though they lost, Johnsonville was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hemingway only posted three assists.

Hemingway had a senior duo take command as Nasir Brooks went 7 of 12 en route to 19 points along with six boards and three steals and Xavier Washington went 8 for 15 on his way to 20 points. With that strong performance, Brooks is now averaging an impressive 16 points per game. Romance Hanna was another key player, putting up eight points.

Johnsonville's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Hemingway, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 4-11 record this season.

Johnsonville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 46-37 loss against Latta on the 3rd. As for Hemingway, they will face off against Hannah-Pamplico at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
