Volleyball Recap: Josalin Shawcroft and Rowan Smith Secure Win for Mountain Empire

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against O'Farrell Charter, Mountain Empire was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the High Tech CV Bruins 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Redhawks have posted since September 6th.

Mountain Empire was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 24-26, 12-25, 25-14, 15-8.

Leading Mountain Empire to victory were Rowan Smith and Josalin Shawcroft. Smith had 16 digs and one assist, while Shawcroft had 17 digs, seven kills, and four aces. Smith has been hot, having posted ten or more digs the last six times she's played.

They weren't the only good servers: Mountain Empire was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 23 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since September 2nd.

Mountain Empire has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. As for High Tech CV, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season.

Mountain Empire wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Julian on the 1st. As for High Tech CV, they will square off against The Cambridge School at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
