Football Recap: FAMU DRS Takes a Loss

FAMU DRS was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Cottondale Hornets, falling 48-16. The Baby Rattlers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-0.

Cottondale's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Zacarius Collins led the charge by rushing for 150 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 8.3 yards per carry. Those 150 rushing yards gave Collins a new career-high. Another signal caller making a difference was Nick Heinemann, who threw for 182 yards and three touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes.

FAMU DRS' loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Cottondale, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Coming up, FAMU DRS will face off against Franklin County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Cottondale, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Freeport at 7:00 p.m. on September 12.
