Baseball Recap: Goreville Extends Road Winning Streak to Four

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Goreville and Johnston City had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Blackcats never let the Indians get on the board and left with a 4-0 victory on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Blackcats in their matchups with the Indians: they've now won three in a row.

Goreville pushed their record up to 9-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Johnston City, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-4.

Coming up, Goreville will head out to take on Trico at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Johnston City, they will be playing at home against DuQuoin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. DuQuoin's pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so Johnston City's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
