After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Wooster, Ashland was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the New Philadelphia Quakers, sneaking past 3-2. The win continues a trend for the Arrows in their matchups with the Quakers: they've now won three in a row.
Ashland took New Philadelphia into a fifth set where they got it done with a eight-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 21-25, 25-15, 17-25, 25-21, 15-7.
Katelyn Aber paced Ashland's offense, picking up 16 kills. Aber got some help from Arienne Vaughn and her 33 assists. Sadie Walter controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.
When it comes to explaining why New Philadelphia lost, don't look at Aubrie Watson. Despite the final result, she had 22 digs and two aces.
