Softball Recap: Vasquez Gets the Win

After low-scoring totals in their previous three contests, Vasquez brought some dynamite into their most recent match. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Santa Clarita Christian Cardinals a 15-0 shutout on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Cardinals: they've now won six in a row.

Vasquez got a massive performance out of Madisyn Wharton, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave Wharton a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Faith Nasrallah, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

The victory got Vasquez back to even at 6-6. As for Santa Clarita Christian, the defeat snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 6-3 record.

Looking ahead, Vasquez will challenge Hart at 8:15 a.m. on Saturday. As for Santa Clarita Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Faith Baptist at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Santa Clarita Christian's pitchers better be ready for this one: Faith Baptist has averaged an impressive 10 runs per game this season.
