Softball Recap: Lake Highland Prep Comes Up Short

Lake Highland Prep lost against Olympia back in February, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Lake Highland Prep came up short against Olympia, falling 17-8. Even though they lost, the Highlanders' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.2 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Alina Shaikh was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Payton Angle, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-3.

Lake Highland Prep is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7. As for Olympia, they moved to 4-9 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lake Highland Prep will square off against Bishop Moore at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lake Highland Prep is facing Bishop Moore at the right time seeing as Bishop Moore is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Olympia, they will challenge Dr. Phillips at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Dr. Phillips' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Olympia's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
