Preview: Potomac School Panthers vs. St. Andrew's Episcopal Lions
The Potomac School Panthers's road trip will continue as they head out to face the St. Andrew's Episcopal Lions at 5:00 p.m. on January 25th. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Potomac School is ranked highly in their home state, and last Tuesday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Connelly School of the Holy Child. Potomac School secured a 54-49 W over Connelly School of the Holy Child.
Potomac School's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Catherine Letendre, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds, and Zora Burrell, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Burrell has scored all season.
Even though St. Andrew's Episcopal has not done well against Georgetown Visitation Prep recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. St. Andrew's Episcopal managed a 57-52 win over Georgetown Visitation Prep. The win made it back-to-back wins for St. Andrew's Episcopal.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead St. Andrew's Episcopal to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lamaria Estridge, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds. Anna beth Tsai-turton was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Potomac School has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for St. Andrew's Episcopal, they pushed their record up to 10-3 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home.
Potomac School beat St. Andrew's Episcopal 53-46 in their previous matchup on January 3rd. The rematch might be a little tougher for Potomac School since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
