Basketball Recap: Crofton Takes a Loss

After flying high against Queen Anne's County on Monday, Crofton came back down to earth. Crofton fell 49-38 to the Chesapeake Cougars on Friday. While losing is never fun, Crofton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 115th, while Chesapeake is ranked 25th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Chesapeake to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kendall Kotofski, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Kotofski has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiery Matkins, who almost dropped a double-double with 16 points and nine rebounds.

Crofton's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Chesapeake, the win keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.

Looking ahead, Crofton will take on North County on Tuesday. Crofton are facing the Knights at the right time seeing as the Knights are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Chesapeake, they and Maryvale Prep will face off at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest, having both just played.
