Baseball Game Preview: Trinity Classical Academy Knights vs. Vasquez Mustangs

For the second straight game, Trinity Classical Academy will face off against Vasquez. The Knights will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against the Mustangs at 4:15 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Trinity Classical Academy 2, Vasquez 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Trinity Classical Academy is returning to their home field after beating Vasquez on theirs, despite the fact Vasquez has dominated at home this season. The Knights were the clear victors by a 12-4 margin over the Mustangs on Monday. Considering the Knights have won 13 games by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

John Carlson made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Quinn Minyard was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double. Cade Herta was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Trinity Classical Academy lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Trinity Classical Academy and bumps their season record up to 19-2. As for Vasquez, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-6.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Trinity Classical Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Vasquez struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
