Softball Preview: Granbury Pirates vs. Aledo Bearcats
Granbury is 1-9 against Aledo since April of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Pirates will challenge the Bearcats at 7:00 p.m.
Last Friday, Granbury came up short against Brewer and fell 9-5. The Pirates have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Granbury saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hannah Dafoe, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Aledo had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15 runs) and they went ahead and made it eight on Saturday. They never let the Pioneers get on the board and left with a 7-0 win. Give the Bearcats' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's eighth straight shutout.
KELLYN OVERTURFF was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of ADDIE PERRY, who scored a run and stole a base.
Aledo pushed their record up to 22-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Granbury, their loss dropped their record down to 5-13-1.
