Softball Recap: Buffalo Sets Scoring Season-High Against Mexia

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Buffalo). They put the hurt on the Mexia Black Cats with a sharp 22-1 win on Friday. The Bison haven't had any issues with the Black Cats recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Ella Ortiz was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Buffalo got a massive performance out of Izzie Stone, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Yuliana Porras, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.

Buffalo lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Buffalo's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-10. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.7 runs over those games. As for Mexia, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.
