Basketball Recap: North Central Takes a Loss

North Central was the 76-63 winner over Pike when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The North Central Panthers lost to the Pike Red Devils on the road by a 81-63 margin on Friday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Saturday (56), the Panthers still had to take the loss.

Pike's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Pierce Collins led the charge by dropping a double-double with 15 points and ten boards. The dominant performance also gave Collins a new career-high in assists (three). Tj Davis was another key player, putting up 13 points.

North Central's defeat dropped their record down to 13-8. As for Pike, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 11-8.

North Central wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 63-52 loss against Brownsburg on the 18th. As for Pike, they will square off against Lawrence North at 7:30 p.m. on February 21st. Lawrence North knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matches -- so hopefully Pike likes a good challenge.
