Baseball Game Preview: Oak Hills Highlanders vs. Fairborn Skyhawks

The Oak Hills Highlanders will challenge the Fairborn Skyhawks at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Oak Hills came out on top against Sycamore on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run third inning. The Highlanders put the hurt on the Aviators with a sharp 9-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Highlanders, who have now won nine games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Oak Hills got a great performance from Gabe Cox as he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Those six strikeouts gave Cox a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Wil Kraus, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Beckham Shorten was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

Oak Hills kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive matchups.

Fairborn never got on the board in their matchup on Thursday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against National Trail on Friday. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Blazers. The win continues a trend for the Skyhawks in their matchups with the Blazers: they've now won three in a row.

Fairborn's victory bumped their record up to 8-12-1. As for Oak Hills, their win bumped their record up to 15-9.

Oak Hills took their victory against Fairborn in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 17-7 score. Do the Highlanders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Skyhawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
