Basketball Recap: Burr Oak Takes a Loss

Burr Oak was the 33-30 winner over Jackson Christian when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Burr Oak Bobcats took a 31-19 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Jackson Christian Royals on Tuesday. The game marked the Bobcats' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Jackson Christian was led to victory by Rennie Huff and Ella Boll. Huff went 7-for-15 en route to 21 points in addition to five boards and four steals, while Boll posted two points along with 15 rebounds and three blocks. That makes it 18 consecutive games in which Huff has scored at least a third of Jackson Christian's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Shaina McCombs, who scored four points and three steals.

Burr Oak's loss dropped their record down to 13-4. As for Jackson Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season.

The future could be bright for both Burr Oak and Jackson Christian: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Burr Oak will try to hand St. Philip Catholic Central their fifth-straight defeat when the two meet at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Jackson Christian will look to extend Tekonsha's three-game losing streak when the meet at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
