Softball Recap: Belpre Comes Up Short

Belpre extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 13 on Monday, dropping them down to 0-12. They lost 25-8 to the Frontier Cougars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-2 back in March.

Ava Brookover stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. Addy Stewart was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.

As for Frontier, their victory bumped their record up to 6-8. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their two-run performance the contest before.

On Frontier's side, the team relied heavily on Addison Edgar, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those three runs gave Edgar a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Keeley Barrows, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.

Belpre didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 6-5 defeat against Waterford on the 14th. As for Frontier, they have also already played their next game, a 5-3 loss against St. Marys on the 15th.
