Baseball Recap: Marianna Drops Season-High Score on North Bay Haven Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Marianna). They had just enough and edged out the North Bay Haven Academy Buccaneers 12-11 on Tuesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Bulldogs needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

Riley Adkinson looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. He is becoming a predictor of Marianna's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is undefeated (and 2-7 when he doesn't).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Torin Clark-Hussey, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4. Marianna is 2-1 when Clark-Hussey posts two or more runs, but 3-6 otherwise. Bowen Barber also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Marianna's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-7. As for North Bay Haven Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-6.

Coming up, Marianna will head out on the road to face off against Blountstown at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Marianna is facing Blountstown at the right time seeing as Blountstown is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for North Bay Haven Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Liberty County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. North Bay Haven Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
