The South County Stallions will head out to take on the Edison Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Edison took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on South County, who comes in off a win.
South County will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs last Tuesday, then bounced right back against Falls Church on Tuesday. The Stallions put the hurt on the Jaguars with a sharp 21-0 victory. The Stallions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by six runs or more this season.
Maddie Grice looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kelsey Wyllie, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kiley Gregory, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
South County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 12 consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Edison unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Friday. They lost 21-8 to Hayfield. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Eagles have suffered against the Hawks since May 5, 2023.
Edison saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maya Sable, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one triple. Maggie Rowland was another, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
South County is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Edison, their loss dropped their record down to 13-8.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. South County has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .457. However, it's not like Edison struggles in that department as they've averaged .518. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
South County couldn't quite get it done against Edison in their previous meeting back in April as they fell 10-7. Can the Stallions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
