Football Recap: Rockledge Comes Up Short

Rockledge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 39-3 loss at the hands of the Cardinal Mooney Cougars. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 103rd, while the Cougars are ranked tenth).

Robert Blalock threw for 57 yards on ten of 24 attempts. Elijah Mitchell was his top target, picking up 67 receiving yards. On the ground, Camden Allen rushed for 26 yards.

Connail Jackson had a dynamite game For Cardinal Mooney., rushing for 150 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries. Jackson really tore up the turf during one magnificent 74-yard run. Another rusher making a difference was Ashton Kelly, who rushed for 120 yards and one TD on only seven carries.

Rockledge's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Cardinal Mooney, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rockledge will take on Seabreeze at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The contest will give the Raiders their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Cardinal Mooney, they are headed away from home for the first time to challenge Berkeley Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
