Lewis Mills had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They came up short against the Weston Trojans on Friday, falling 48-27. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it ten in a row.

Several Spartans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Gryfn Kobylarz, who picked up 130 receiving yards and one TD. Kobylarz showed off some serious burst, connecting on a big catch for 58 yards. Jayce McDonald was another key player, having thrown for 278 yards and two touchdowns.

Lewis Mills didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Sonny Ferrari, Owen Mignola, and Nathan Bertrand picked up one apiece.

A big part of Weston's victory came down to the chemistry between Timothy Martin and his top target Jack Olsen. Martin threw for 336 yards and three touchdowns while completing 71.9% of his passes while Olsen picked up 119 receiving yards and a pair of scores. The dominant performance also gave Martin a new career-high in rushing yards (32).

Lewis Mills didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 42-6 win against RHAM on the 19th. As for Weston, they have also already played their next contest, a 31-0 defeat against New Fairfield on the 19th.
