Baseball Recap: McDowell Gets the Win

McDowell proved they can win big last Wednesday (they won by ten) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Enka Jets 6-4. The game was the first time the Titans have beaten the Jets on their field since April 7, 2022.

Kyson Rinnert was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hayden Shelton, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Jacob Davis was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

McDowell was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .367 or higher in four consecutive contests.

McDowell now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Enka, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.

Enka will square off against North Henderson at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Knights will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last. McDowell will be paying especially close attention to Enka's contest: after Enka faces off against North Henderson, they'll take on McDowell again at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
