Basketball Game Preview: Savannah Country Day Hornets vs. Toombs County Bulldogs

The Savannah Country Day Hornets will venture away from home to challenge the Toombs County Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Savannah Country Day has six straight victories, Toombs County has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Tuesday, Savannah Country Day got the win against Savannah Christian by a conclusive 54-29. The Hornets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 25 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Toombs County suffered their biggest defeat since December 14, 2024 on Saturday. They had to suffer through a 50-21 loss at the hands of Tattnall County. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 444th, while the Warriors are ranked 150th).

Taylor Bland was Toombs County's leading scorer, having posted seven points. Brinley Miller held things down on the boards with eight rebounds. Makenna Gardisser took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.

Toombs County's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Savannah Country Day, their win bumped their record up to 11-2.
