Baseball Preview: McNary Celtics vs. Franklin Quakers
McNary is on a three-game streak of home losses, and Franklin a ten-game streak of away losses dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Wednesday. The McNary Celtics will welcome the Franklin Quakers at 5:00 p.m. McNary will be strutting in after a win while Franklin will be coming in after a loss.
While McNary's victory against Cleveland wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Celtics skirted past the Warriors 7-5. The Celtics haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Holtohn Ritchey made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Ritchey was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. That stolen base was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Kaden Leduc was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyle Wilson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Franklin came up short against Glencoe on Wednesday and fell 5-1.
McNary's victory bumped their record up to 2-6. As for Franklin, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.
Everything went McNary's way against Franklin in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as McNary made off with a 13-3 win. Will the Celtics repeat their success, or do the Quakers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
