Baseball Recap: Lower Moreland Lions vs. Cheltenham Panthers
Lower Moreland had lost seven straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 4-15 to make it eight. They took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cheltenham Panthers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-1 on Tuesday.
Evan Stine and James Cronin did some serious damage despite the final result: Stine went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two RBI, while Cronin went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Bradley Horsnall was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.
As for Cheltenham, the victory got them back to even at 10-10. The win was familiar territory for they, who have now won three contests in a row.
On Cheltenham's side, Emile Chanoine was incredible, going 1-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Chanoine is becoming a predictor of the Panthers' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 7-1 (and 3-9 when he doesn't). Aj Gordon also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.
While Lower Moreland had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
