Football Game Preview: St. Joseph-by-the-Sea Vikings vs. Monsignor Farrell Lions

St. Joseph-by-the-Sea is 0-3 against Monsignor Farrell since April of 2021 but things could change on Friday. The Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the Lions at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Friday, St. Joseph-by-the-Sea strolled past St. Francis Prep with points to spare, taking the game 21-7. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Vikings.

Meanwhile, Monsignor Farrell faced Iona Prep in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Lions walked away with a 28-21 victory over the Gaels.

Monsignor Farrell's win came from a few key players St. Joseph-by-the-Sea will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Bryce Moye, who threw for 229 yards and three TDs while completing 75% of his passes. Kevin Gumb Jr helped Moye out on the ground, rushing for 101 yards and one score, while also picking up 45 receiving yards.

St. Joseph-by-the-Sea now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Monsignor Farrell, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.

St. Joseph-by-the-Sea took a serious blow against Monsignor Farrell in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, falling 52-0. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
