Baseball Recap: Roscommon Comes Up Short

Roscommon had lost four straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 1-7 to make it five. They came up short against the Evart Wildcats, falling 7-1. The Bucks were not able to make up for their loss to the Wildcats from their previous meeting back in May of 2021.

As for Evart, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games.

For Evart's part, Brendan Magnusson made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Magnusson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, earning two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sean Jackson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted over his last 13 contests. Another player making a difference was Lucas Johnson, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

While Roscommon had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
