Basketball Recap: M.L. King Piles Up the Points Against Forest Park

M.L. King hadn't done well against Forest Park recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The M.L. King Lions blew past the Forest Park Panthers 35-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Lions have posted since January 24, 2024.

M.L. King had a senior duo take command as Aubriana Kirkland dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds and Jamoney Hayes posted no points along with 20 boards and eight blocks. What's more, Kirkland also racked up three blocks, the most she's had since back in January of 2024. Kamora Whittlesey was another key player, putting up six points along with ten boards and three steals.

M.L. King smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 51 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

M.L. King's victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 5-13. As for Forest Park, they are on a 13-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-13.

M.L. King and Forest Park could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings. M.L. King (ranked 403rd) will meet Jackson (ranked 77th) at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Similarly, Forest Park (ranked 485th) will meet Creekside (ranked 14th) at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
