Softball Recap: Okeechobee Gets the Win

Okeechobee posted their closest victory since April 17, 2025 on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the Astronaut War Eagles 7-6. Seven seems to be a good number for the Brahmans as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Audra Friend was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Janessa Arana, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Okeechobee kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are 7-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Okeechobee is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Astronaut, their loss dropped their record down to 10-4.

Looking ahead, Okeechobee will be playing in front of their home fans against DeSoto County at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Astronaut, they will head out on the road to take on New Smyrna Beach at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
