Baseball Recap: Gabrielino Victorious

Gabrielino hadn't beaten Mountain View on the road since April 26, 2022 but that history sure didn't bother them on Wednesday. The Eagles walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Vikings. This was a revenge game for the Eagles: when they faced off against the Vikings back in March, they had to take a 7-3 defeat.

Ethan Tran made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He is becoming a predictor of Gabrielino's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is undefeated (and 3-10 when he doesn't). Tran was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his seven plate appearances with two runs.

In other batting news, Robert Esparza was excellent, going 3-for-5 with three runs. Gabrielino is undefeated when Esparza posts two or more runs, but 5-10 otherwise.

Gabrielino kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mountain View only managed three.

Gabrielino's record now sits at 8-10. As for Mountain View, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-7.

Gabrielino has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against South El Monte on the 23rd. As for Mountain View, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 7-5 defeat against Marshall on the 24th.
