Basketball Recap: New Site's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

After a string of five wins, New Site's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 55-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Thrasher Rebels. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Royals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 59-29 back in November of 2024.

Several Royals players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Bella Green, who posted 16 points and three steals. Green is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last ten games she's played. Another player making a difference was Johna Lindley, who earned eight points along with eight rebounds and four steals.

Even though they lost, New Site smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 11 consecutive matchups.

New Site's defeat dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Thrasher, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-1.

New Site will venture away from home to face off against Hatley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Thrasher, they will welcome Myrtle at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
