Basketball Game Preview: Parkland Mustangs vs. Mount Tabor Spartans

Parkland hasn't had much luck against Mount Tabor recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Parkland Mustangs will face off against the Mount Tabor Spartans at 8:00 p.m.

Parkland is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Thursday. They lost 70-50 to Davie. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 388th, while the War Eagles are ranked 58th).

Parkland's loss came about despite a quality game from Brock Jackson, who went 8 of 19 on his way to 20 points along with six boards and three steals. Jackson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Quincy Rumph, who posted five points.

Even though they lost, Parkland was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Mount Tabor beat Reagan 57-52 on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Spartans.

Mount Tabor's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-3. As for Parkland, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-9.

Parkland lost to Mount Tabor on the road by a decisive 81-64 margin in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can Parkland avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
