Baseball Recap: Mckeel Academy Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

McKeel Academy proved they can win big last Thursday (they won by 15) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Rockledge Raiders 8-6. The victory was nothing new for the Wildcats as they're now sitting on three straight.

Caleb Clanton tossed a big game, striking out ten batters over 5.2 innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off 11 hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent : he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jorge Cordova was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits. Another player making a difference was Brody McMillan, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

McKeel Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .462. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .412 or higher in three consecutive matches.

McKeel Academy's record now sits at 8-5. As for Rockledge, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-5.

Coming up, McKeel Academy will be taking part in a tournament against Owasso at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (McKeel Academy 3.2, Owasso 1.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Rockledge, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Bloomington at 3:30 p.m.
