Volleyball Recap: Taylor Denike's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Dobbs Ferry over Valhalla

After flying high against Hendrick Hudson on Tuesday, Dobbs Ferry came back down to earth. The Eagles fell just short of the Valhalla Vikings by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The loss continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Vikings: they've now lost three in a row.

Dobbs Ferry wouldn't go down easily and took Valhalla into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking seven-point loss. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-17, 24-26, 22-25, 15-8.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Taylor Denike, who had 20 digs, 11 kills, and two blocks. Another player making a difference was Natasha Mansfield, who had 14 kills, 12 digs, and four aces.

Dobbs Ferry's defeat dropped their record down to 15-4. As for Valhalla, their record now sits at 4-2.

As of now, neither Dobbs Ferry nor the Vikings have any future games scheduled.
