Softball Recap: Buckfield Picks Up 17th Straight Win at Home

Buckfield faced Leavitt in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Bucks blew past the Hornets 8-2. The result was nothing new for the Bucks, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.

Carmen Crockett spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on three hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brittany Carrier, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Cori Merrill, who earned one RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Buckfield hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in seven consecutive matchups.

Buckfield pushed their record up to 9-1 with the victory, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.4 runs on average over those games. As for Leavitt, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 11-1.
