Soccer Game Preview: Genoa-Kingston vs. Alleman

The Genoa-Kingston Cogs will venture away from home to face off against the Alleman Pioneers at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Genoa-Kingston is coming into the game hot, having won their last 19 games.

Genoa-Kingston is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Their defense stepped up to hand Rockford Christian a 4-0 shutout. Give Genoa-Kingston's defense some credit: that's the team's fifth straight shutout.

They hit Rockford Christian with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Ally Poegel (2), Ayva Hernandez, and Jaquey Flores.

Meanwhile, Alleman got the win against Aurora Central Catholic on Tuesday by a conclusive 6-1. The result was nothing new for Alleman, who have now won eight matchups by three goals or more so far this season.

Alleman has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 19 goals over those five games. As for Genoa-Kingston, their victory bumped their record up to 21-2.

Genoa-Kingston suffered a grim 7-0 defeat to Alleman in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Cogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
