Basketball Recap: Carrizozo Comes Up Short

Carrizozo was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 19th straight loss dating back to last season. They were outmatched by the Corona/Vaughn Cardinals and fell 55-13. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cardinals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 55-11 back in January.

Harper Dunn was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 24 points and 16 boards for Corona/Vaughn. That makes it four consecutive games in which Dunn has scored at least a third of Corona/Vaughn's points. Kassidy Lightfoot was another key player, putting up 18 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Carrizozo's defeat dropped their record down to 0-18. As for Corona/Vaughn, the victory was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-3.

Coincidentally, Carrizozo and Corona/Vaughn will both be playing Alamo Navajo the next time they take the court. Carrizozo will head out to face Alamo Navajo at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, while Corona/Vaughn will head out to face them at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
