Basketball Recap: Atlantic Comes Up Short

Atlantic lost against New Smyrna Beach back in January of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Atlantic Sharks took a blow against the New Smyrna Beach Barracudas, falling 82-9. The contest marked the Sharks' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

New Smyrna Beach's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jayla Smith, who made all 8 shots she took racking up 17 points. Those 17 points gave Smith a new career-high. Iniya Reddicks was another key player, going 5 of 11 on her way to 11 points and seven steals.

Atlantic's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-11. As for New Smyrna Beach, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 18-5.

Atlantic has already played their next matchup, a 65-43 loss against Flagler Palm Coast on the 28th. As for New Smyrna Beach, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 70-13 victory against Mainland on the 28th.
