Basketball Recap: Riverdale Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Lovena Joseph and Bonner Destiny

Riverdale was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 21st straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against the Cypress Lake Panthers, falling 42-19. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 42-27 back in January.

Riverdale's loss came despite strong showings from Bonner Destiny and Lovena Joseph. Destiny posted three points in addition to ten boards and five blocks, while Joseph scored two points and five rebounds. The dominant performance gave Destiny a new career-high in rebounds.

Cypress Lake's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jenna Cook, who earned ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Victoria Silva-Asuaje, who had 13 points.

Riverdale's defeat dropped their record down to 0-18. As for Cypress Lake, their victory ended an 11-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-18.

Riverdale wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 70-6 loss against Naples on the 4th. As for Cypress Lake, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 38-34 defeat against Island Coast on the 4th.
