Basketball Recap: St. John Sets Scoring Season-High Against New Rockford-Sheyenne

St. John scored the most points they've had this season on Tuesday, but it wasn't enough. They took a hard 87-69 fall against the New Rockford-Sheyenne Rockets. The Woodchucks haven't had much luck with the Rockets recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

St. John's loss came despite strong showings from Ashton Parisien and Madden Parisien. Ashton went 8 of 19 en route to 29 points and eight assists, while Madden went 7 for 11 from beyond the arc on his way to 23 points. Madden is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Simon LaRocque, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: St. John was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in five consecutive matches.

St. John's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for New Rockford-Sheyenne, their win bumped their record up to 8-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. John will challenge Drayton/Valley-Edinburg at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. St. John has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. New Rockford-Sheyenne has already played their next game (against Washburn), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
