Softball Game Preview: Sutherlin Bulldogs vs. Glide Wildcats

For the second straight game, Sutherlin will face off against Glide. The Bulldogs will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Wildcats at 3:00 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Sutherlin has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while Glide will arrive with six straight wins.

Sutherlin fell victim to Glide and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 16-0 to the Wildcats. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Bulldogs' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

For Glide's part, they got a massive performance out of Emma Geiger, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave Geiger a new career-high. Peyton Geiger was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Emma wasn't the only one making solid contact: Glide kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Glide pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games. As for Sutherlin, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.

Friday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Sutherlin hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .323. However, it's not like Glide struggles in that department as they've averaged .401. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
