Baseball Game Preview: Comstock Colts vs. Marcellus Wildcats

The Comstock Colts will venture away from home to square off against the Marcellus Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Comstock has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since April 17.

Comstock might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 10-2 to Centreville, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Centreville hit Marcellus with a four-run seventh inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Wildcats came up short against the Bulldogs, falling 12-6. It was the first time this season that the Wildcats let down their fans at home.

Cale Hackenberg made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Another player making a difference was Jakob Huber, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Marcellus' loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 9-1 and their overall record down to 13-4. As for Comstock, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-10.

Comstock suffered a grim 18-0 defeat to Marcellus in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Colts avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
